arianna economou is an interactive artist, dancer, performer, choreographer, director, movement re-educator, organizer and founder of echo arts living arts centre

arianna has studied both dance and theatre in England, first at the Ballet Rambert School, at the London School of Contemporary Dance and at Dartington College of Arts in Devon, where her studies on physical theatre, movement for performance and interatrs have changed her views on traditional ways of making theatre and dance and are the base for all her creative work and teaching.

arianna has presented her own solo and group work at the New Dance festivals in England (1979-85), at the Nicosia Festivals (1983-87), at the Nicosia-Cologne Cultural Exchange (1987), at the European Dance Development Centre in Holland and Germany (1994), at the Women Creators of the Black and the Mediterranean Sea - Thessaloniki European Cultural City (1997), at the Month of Dance in Athens (1998), at the 1st, 3rd and 4th European Dance Festivals in Cyprus, and at the 13th International Festival for Experimental Theatre in Cairo and the Global Dance Festival in Düsseldorf (2002).

one square foot of earth a performance research project between Cyprus-UK (May-August 2003) has been the ground for her recent performance seeds which involved the process of making a site-specific preformance into an indoor performance. As part of this exchange arianna with Dorinda Hulton co-directed three interdisciplinary performances involving three actors from the Exter based theatre group Theatre Alibi and which involved an invited team of artists from different performance fields like music, visual arts, writing for performance and video art.

Her solo performance in a dark time the eye begins to see won the 1st prize at the Choreographic Platform 2002 and was the Cyprus Participation at the 5th European Dance Festival.

arianna has taught and performed in England, Germany, Greece, Holland, Sweden, Armenia, Portugal and Egypt.
