aphrodite's feast
aphrodite's feast is a dance performance about an inner journey, in search of the Goddess "Aphrodite" in our life today. It has already been performed within the CTO's "Moonlight Concerts" for the summer 2003.
It is inspired and based on the poetry of Annette Vonberg from a book with the same title, published by Moufflon Publications last year in four languages: German, Greek, English and Norwegian in the series Bild & Text 3.
The performance tries to evoke the imagery, sensuality and richness of the poetry and touch on the many themes and symbolism involved, within the myth and the poetry: the turning of the seasons, the hours, the cycles of our lives, the times from night to day and the many rites of passage in a woman's life.
The performance works within the forming of bridges, between the dance and the spoken word, the word and the music, the song live on stage and the sound of the many languages spoken, that the poetry is written in, hoping to transport the viewer into the poetics of nature and the connecting power between "love and creativity". As one poem says:
Where
your eye's
blue green sea
deepens
black like
the night
there
I drop
my anchor
into the pearl lit
ground
of new perception.
