deeper than skin deep

picture documentation

deeper than skin deep is an investigation through physical action, of the elements water, earth, air, fire and the human being standing in its polarity between sky and earth. The elements stand as metaphors for water-unconscious, earth-gravity, air-suspension and fire for the emotions.

In our investigation through physical action, we began to arrive at stories, dream images and sensations. The approach of the work was an exploration of sensing and moving, following and guiding, supporting and yielding. This piece has been so far related to our perception of time, exploring different ways of being in the moment, and stretching that moment so it becomes a whole new entity of it self.

I hope that the piece today remains as evocative and mysterious as it is for me and the group right now, so that you, the audience can enter with your own images, associations and feelings and make this journey richer.

In my diary notes on the 12th of February I wrote:

I get the feeling I am following a path of unraveling what is already there, and I can only do that if I stay clear and keep listening to the process following the physicality of the material.
